Nunsense
Tap dancing nuns...an audience quiz...and a host of comic suprises along the way. Not seen at the Alhambra in almost 10 years, Nunsense is a comedy classic that always leaves you wanting more. The premise of "Nunsense", the long-running off-Broadway musical, is that the few nuns from the convent of The Little Sisters of Hoboken have pooled their talents to produce a benefit. They need to raise money to bury the 4 colleagues who are being stored in the school's cafeteria freezer. The unholy problems began one night when 19 sisters went off to play bingo. On their return, they found the other 52 members of the convent lying face-down at the dinner table in their bowls of vichyssoise. It seems that the cook, Sister Julia, child of God, had mistakenly served a double dose of botulism to the nuns. As one nun explains the incident, "For 52, bon appetite was also bon voyage. After a greeting-card sale, there was only enough money to bury 48 sisters, which is why four bodies are in the freezer and a group of nuns are on the stage singing, dancing and offering Roman Catholic comedy routines.

Between 1957 and 1959, one man changed popular music forever. This is his story. Join us for a rock and roll musical review with over 25 songs recreating the magic of Buddy Holly. The incredible legacy of the young man with glasses, whose musical career spanned an all-to-brief period during the golden days of rock’ n’ roll. Hank and My Honkey Tonk Heros
“Sure to be one of the most popular productions this summer and with darned good reason,” is what Virginia’s Tri-City News said this May when this show opened in Abingdon. We think you’ll love it, too! Jason Petty has won critical acclaim all over the country for his surreal performance as country legend Hank Williams in the off-Broadway hit Hank Williams’ “Lost Highway". So much so that his performance racked up 5 nominations in New York’s award ceremonies for Best Actor. Now, this multi-talented singer/actor/musician is bringing his own tribute show out on the road backed by a swinging four-piece band, Hank Williams tribute artist Jason Petty. This show will make you smile, make you cry, and make you clap your hands and stomp your feet in excitement. We will take you back in time to the beginnings of country music with one of its legends. Combine that with a respectful telling of Williams’ tragic and to-short life story, and you’ll love country music – any music – more than ever.

Sylvia
With 18 motion pictures to her credit and a host of TV shows, including her most famous role as Shirley in Laverne & Shirley, we’re bringing Cindy Williams to the Alhambra stage in the lead role in a romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog. The husband, Greg, finds an abandoned dog in the park, takes her home and names her Sylvia. When the wife, Kate (Ms. Williams) returns home, she quickly finds she has been relegated to the back seat as Sylvia becomes the new love of Greg’s life. Man’s best friend is not always the wife’s best friend, and so the battle begins. This is a laugh out-loud comedy that will have you rolling in laughter. Don’t take it from us, the NY Times said, “Dramatic literature is stuffed with memorable love scenes. But none is as immediately delicious and dizzy as the one that begins the redeeming affair in A. R. Gurney's comedy, "Sylvia."

Phantom
This mesmerizing Phantom transforms Gaston Leroux' The Phantom of the Opera into a mystery that enraptures audiences with beautiful songs and an expertly crafted book. Phantom goes behind the mask of the great opera ghost and exposes the mysteries of his passions. Where did the phantom come from? Why is he destined to haunt the opera? What makes his relationship with the young soprano Christine the romance to end all? Based on the 1910 novel “Phantom of the Opera” Yeston and Kopits “Phantom” offers a different twist by beginning the story earlier in his life of the phantom, introducing his father into the plot as a character and other turns along the way. This is a story about Christine, a street singer and Erik the Phantom, who eventually falls in love with her.
