FDA Tightens Baby Formula Standards


The Food and Drug Administration is tightening the standard for baby formula. The FDA unveiled new rules today requiring formula manufacturers to make sure their products are safe and nutritious. The changes included higher nutrient levels and microbial contamination testing. The FDA says it sets a high quality standards for infant formula because its a key part of a child's diet during the critical first 12 months. There's a 45 day public comment period for the new site.
