Cholesterol Screening Guidelines For Kids

Many parents wonder of cholesterol screening for kids is necessary. Doctors say it will do a body good. In the past, children were only tested if there were red flags such as obesity , diabetes or a family history of heart disease. but as many as 60 percent of these cases were being missed. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends routine cholesterol screenings of children between the ages of nine and eleven an again between 17 and 21.
